When my wife and I moved to Greeley in 2005, we had much on our minds. What paint colors did we want? Should we upgrade the flooring or the kitchen first? Who would claim the extra closet space (hint: not me)?
Moving is a ton of work, especially when compromise is involved.
But these days, the only thing my wife and I playfully argue about is which Greeley restaurants are the best.
Megan and I each have three favorite food spots, and there’s no overlap whatsoever. If you’ve lived here for a while, you probably have strong opinions about this, too, but if you’re new, any of the six is worth trying.
For starters, my favorite local restaurants are:
1. Lucky Fins – They have fantastic tacos, prime rib, and, of course, seafood. Whether you’re in the mood for salmon, lobster, or sushi, their menu has you covered. I will eat here any time, for any reason, no questions asked.
2. El Pueblito Mexican Restaurant – You have not had Mexican food until you’ve had El Pueblito’s. They make some of the best nachos, fajitas, and quesadillas around. Or, if you prefer, try their salads, burritos, or enchiladas. Everything on the menu is 10/10, would-eat-again good.
3. Sushi 1 – If you’re looking for authentic Japanese cuisine, look no further. Mr. Tae Suh’s sushi is the stuff of dreams. They also make incredible takoyaki, sashimi, and miso soup.
Now, flying in the face of my picks, Megan’s favorite local restaurants are:
1. Sherpa Grill – I will admit, they make some excellent samosa and curry. If you like Indian food (and a menu with tons of options), you can’t go wrong at Sherpa Grill.
2. Coyote’s Southwestern Grill – Okay, it’s hard not to love southwestern food, but this is definitely one of our better spots. I really enjoy their pork belly street tacos—corn tortillas packed with pork belly burnt ends, ancho barbecue sauce, sriracha mayo, queso, and housemade crispy onions. I mean… come on.
3. Lafayette’s Creperie – They make killer crepes, not to mention their croissants. I’d be lying if I said I don’t crave their Monte Cristo from time to time.
Of course, as a local realtor, I love supporting our small businesses… but my three favorite restaurants are the molehills I will die on. Just ask Megan. She’s eaten sushi so many times this year that we might have to take a break from it in January.
Honestly, there are just so many good food spots here that it’s hard to list only a few. If you have a tried-and-true favorite, reach out. I’m always looking for new places to recommend to my clients!
