If you’ve spent any length of time exploring this blog, it’s no secret that my family and I love adventuring in Greeley. Spending quality time together is of utmost importance to us—and scrolling through our social media feeds while sitting in the same room doesn’t count.
We enjoy getting out and about and taking advantage of everything our city offers. This is especially true during the blue sky and warm weather months of summer. It can get pretty darn cold here in the winter, so it’s up to us to soak up the sunshine while we still can!
And of course, it’s just nice to connect with the people you love most. It can be hard to truly enjoy each other’s company if you’re getting distracted by household tasks, glued to your laptop, or crashed in front of the TV. We appreciate a good movie, but we try to balance that kind of downtime with a family walk or a catch-up conversation over dinner.
Whether you’re considering a move to Greeley or just visiting, I encourage you and your family to get out and explore. As a long-time resident and realtor, I can tell you with 100% certainty that there’s a lot to see.
One of my family’s favorite activities in the city is a good old-fashioned park crawl. Greeley is overflowing with parks, and depending on your preferences, there’s something for everybody. We like to go on walks, so we lean toward locations with scenic views (like Glenmere Park). If you’re in search of a good playground or lots of open space for kids and/or pets to run around, we have plenty of those, too. I wrote more about them here, so take your pick!
If you have foodies in your family, welcome to the club. We LOVE food, and trying new cuisines is a hobby for us. After a few hours at the park, we’ll pick a local spot to eat and chat together. As a business owner, I love supporting other small businesses—especially when their food is out of this world.
The restaurants in Greeley are fantastic. My wife and I like to try a new spot on our weekly date nights and bring the kids the next time we go. Whether you’re in the mood for Mexican, pizza, sandwiches, BBQ, or something else, you can find it here.
Often, after a delicious meal, we’ll head out for a(nother) walk. Greeley has some beautiful walking paths with varying degrees of difficulty. Our personal favorite is the Poudre River Trail, which offers incredible views, a deep connection with nature, and plenty of wildlife to observe. It’s very relaxing, which is what my family looks for in a good walk.
If you live in Colorado, then you know how good it feels to get outside. There’s nothing quite like it. So, while my family’s definition of fun usually includes a meal and some quiet time together, we never pass up an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
As far as we’re concerned, the most fun you can have in Greeley requires the least amount of effort. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes and a little bit of time to experience the beauty of our city. We hope you love it as much as we do!
